Amador Data Center Oversight
We are a community-based citizen group dedicated to providing oversight and advocating for an emergency moratorium on data centers in Amador County.
Community Concerns
Environmental Impact
We are deeply concerned about the potential for significant agricultural and ecological disruption including impacts on noise, air quality and temperature, traffic increases, soil pollution, water pollution and use.
Economic Equity
While data centers may bring new county/city tax income and jobs, we must ensure that the benefits are shared equitably via hiring of local residents, mitigations, impact on the cost of power to our local residents, impact on property value, and established recourse if any requirements are not met. If the potential benefits do not outweigh the potential negative impacts, we do not see a need to encourage data centers in our county.
Social Integrity
Our community values the quiet, natural beauty of Amador County. We oppose any development that threatens the tranquility of our local environment, the health of our residents, and the sustainability of local agriculture and recreation.
Transparency
As is true of all development, any efforts to build in Amador County that do not embrace transparency, truthfulness, and sharing of information, will result in a negative overall outlook on the development effort. This includes overselling untested and vague technology.
